The hard chromium is very “Hard” on surface. It is 68-70 Rc (Rockwell Scale) which makes it suitable for a variety of industrial applications that require resistance to wear. It is also the finest metal deposition to utilize when specifications call for smooth and flawless characteristics on the roll face.
It’s chromate treatment for embossing roller. Due to its unique set of properties, chrome plating is employed for a variety of purposes and functions. Chrome is typically applied as an electroplated industrial grade coating, known as hard chrome, and may be up to several mils in thickness. Chrome is hard, dense, and abrasion resistant and is one of the few materials that can be ground and polished to a mirror finish. It can also be provided with a range of matte finish surface textures by grit blasting. Chrome is a good thermal and electrical conductor and is resistant to a variety of chemicals.
With imported polishing machine and raw materials, the roller surface roughness can reach Rao.01 and also concentricity is less than 0.02mm.
The standard thickness for Hard Chrome plating in nonsalvage applications is .0002 - .0006” (.00508 - .01524 mm). High wear applications should have .001" or more for the best results. Thickness over 1 mil generally requires the plating to be applied thicker than desired, then ground to size.
